School Profile
Clarkburg School is located on the southern boundary of Carroll County in West Tennessee. The district is located
just east of Highway 22 in the city limits of Clarksburg. The district includes the
surrounding rural communities of Yuma, Westport, Concord and areas
bordering Natchez Trace State
Park. We enjoy the advantages of a rural
community but are conveniently located approximately 5 minutes from interstate
forty.
Our small school setting is
unique and enjoys close community involvement in school events and activities.
The district office and Clarksburg School(Pre K-12) are
housed in one building. The district
supports approximately 430 students.
Prior to 1954 the school was a part of the Carroll County School System. The county building deteriorated and was condemned in 1954. At this time, a special school district was
formed encompassing the communities of Clarksburg,
Concord, Westport,
Yuma, and the
surrounding territory. A bond issue was
passed and a new building housing classrooms was built. A new gym, cafeteria,
and elementary classrooms were added later. Two new classrooms, a new library,
administrative offices, and other improvements were completed in August 2002.
Clarkburg School consistently scores at or above state averages
in most areas of school accountability measures. The school teachers are all
highly qualified in the subject areas in which they teach. Students in grades
kindergarten through eight participate in proven methods of learning. High
School students participate in curriculum designed to prepare students to enter
college, technical training or the workforce.
Clarkburg is a progressive school always
striving to improve education opportunities for students….
SCCSD recently implemented a comprehensive after-school program
including enrichment opportunities in the arts, fitness, and academic
opportunities.
SCCSD Board is reviewing plans for the construction of a new gymnasium.
The district recently acquired additional acreage enabling the
school to improve the playground area for elementary students.
The Clarksburg School Counseling Program
recently received federal grant funding to improve counseling services to
students and implement a model school counseling program.
