Research and Information For Parents

When is the time to start applying for Student Financial Aid? After January 1st, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid will be open for all students to apply for the 07/08 academic year. Seniors and a parent will need a PIN number to use as your electronic signature. You can both apply at www.pin.ed.gov. Once you have completed your tax forms for the 2006 tax year, you can file your FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov. March 1 is the priority deadline but some Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation funding is exhausted by that time. All seniors are encouraged to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after Jan. 1. A financial aid specialist will conduct a workshop for all seniors and senior parents on Jan. 28 at Clarksburg High School A.D. Jarrett Gymnasium.  Juniors and/or junior parents may also attend to gather information in advance for next year!!

Relevant Research - Teens Will Cut Ethical Corners To Reduce Success Pressure ~

A survey conducted by Junior Achievement Worldwide and Deloitte & Touche USA reveals that two out of five teens (44 percent) feel either a lot or overwhelming pressure to succeed in school. Fully half of all girls (50 percent), but only 38 percent of boys, feel the pressure to do well academically.

How far will adolescents go to relieve the pressures they feel? Cheat? Lie? The findings are contained in a survey report available on the Junior Achievement web site. Go to: http://ja.org/about/about_newsitem.asp?StoryID=376
